The German expression for holidays is Feiertage and there is a funny ambiguity about this word: Feier means party and Tage means days… So now you already have an impression how I spend my holidays ;) And today we are at the ready for the next excess! As an appropriate kick-off tune I mixed up some recent killer tunes and some of my all-time favorites. The cocktail got a really housey finish this time, as a hedonist i am always on the run for something new… Wishing you all a wicked NYE party and a terrific 2009!

Its pretty exactly one year back when I took this shot in the pedestrian precinct of Manly , Sydney. A solar powered X-Mas Tree, quite a smart thing, no? What lovely memories come up to my mind when I look at this picture today, my throat sore and my nose full of mucus from a pretty bad cold again… I definitely wasn´t made for the central European winter, neither for the hysterical crowded shops with all that stressful people out there these days. No, I am definitely not a big X-Mas fan… So I keep my fingers crossed that all my ambitious plans work out properly so that I will write these lines next year with my nose full of salt water from a terrific surf and a brain-freezing Slurpee in my throat! However, the words will most probably be the same: Merry X-Mas, mates!
For the second time I moderated Chaishop Music News, a frequent podcast featuring some new releases from the Trance scene. Since its me picking the tunes its Progressive Trance to be more precise… After having an interview with Perfect Stranger for the last show I now talked to Russ Davies aka Abakus for this one. Some of you might already know that dude for his excellent Chill Out album That Much Closer To The Sun a few years back, now he broke new grounds and delivered some pretty danceable tunes. It was interesting to hear that he also plays Techno DJ sets, you can listen to one of these after the show.

Der Musiker Johannes Kreidler hat eine lustige Installation erschaffen, welche sich genau mit diesem Thema beschäftigt. Mit einigen seiner Projekte erfüllt Kreidler genau das, was ich bei den aller meisten Künsterln vermisse: Originalität, Provokation und eine gewisse Exzentrik… Aber seht selbst:

Some time ago I started a new project with my mate Sam@chaishop.com: The Chaishop Music News History Edition. In this podcast we present ten years of Psy Trance, each show one year. Beside some killer tracks that will certainly send the one or the other back to lovely memories about great parties and other adventures the show includes the typical nonsense joking that always appears when Sam and I meet. So far one show about 1998 and before, one about 1999 and one about 2000 is available.
…lautet der Untertitel des vielleicht inspirativsten Buches, welches ich während meines Studiums gelesen habe. Dieser Tage habe ich mir Wir nennen es Arbeit ein zweites Mal zu Gemüt geführt, was ich generell nur mit Büchern tue, welche ich für sehr gelungen halte. Der Textstil kann als semi-wissenschaftlich bezeichnet werden und liest sich dennoch ausgesprochen kurzweilig und interessant. Gerade für kreative, internetaffine Menschen, die sich ungern hinten anstellen sondern lieber ihr eigenes Ding durchziehen, bietet das Buch eine ganze Menge Bestätigung und Inspiration. Doch auch jenen, deren Lebenslauf lückenlos ist wie die sorgsam gepflegten Beißerchen, und die, gleich einem läufigen Hund jedem Knie, jedem Praktikumsplatz hinterherdackeln sei die Lektüre dieses Buches empfohlen. MAD is a pretty young but nevertheless very successful architecture agency from Beijing, China.Picking up very organic, natural forms on the one hand and pretty minimalistic style on the other their projects are really edge-cutting futuristic structures.
