Free compressor VST

Januar 31st, 2009

Pretty smart thing: Audio Damage delivers a free compressor for download! I was pretty satisfied with their sidechain compressor and also liked their gate so I guess this gear will not be the worst. Check it out yourself!

2009-02-07 Electrosmock

Januar 29th, 2009

Mr. Scruff

Januar 27th, 2009

This dude is one of my very favorites since quite a while: Mr. Scruff delivers excellent productions and his DJ sets can just be described as an amazing collection of good music. In fact its really senseless to try to categorize these tunes, except you take a very general label like Easy Listening. Don’t miss to check out Mr. Scruff’s website, there is heaps of funny stuff to go for like some games, videos and great music. Also very nice design. So here we go with a extra long set presented by Giant Step- Enjoy!

We call it Techno (english / german)

Januar 25th, 2009

I am wondering if anybody who is reading these lines witnessed the very first years of Techno? Of course, some of you already celebrated in this scene in the early nineties. But the actual origin of Techno is even 10 years further back. This documentary tells about the Techno scene from the early eighties to the early nineties. Its basically based on interviews with some of the classical protagonists of the first days and they have quite some exciting things to tell. What was the most interesting thing for me is the actually well known fact that history repeats again and again. Celebrating in this scene for 12 years now I am not really comfortable with the fact that Tech House and Minimal is played at posh parties with all that well ironed, perfumed and way too cool people hanging around there sipping cocktails for 8 Euros each. So its a very interesting fact that Read the rest of this entry »

Adam Freeland

Januar 17th, 2009

Having fixed the technical problems with the layout again I am back on track with some more blog rocking beats! Adam Freeland has an unique style, his sets always have some kind of punk rock inside. Driving and dirty – music for your body!

Chess boxing

Januar 11th, 2009

Who ever thinks boxing is kind of stupid and unintelligent has never understood this sport- Its all about strategic thinking and control of your self. But this one pushes it even further: Chess boxing means an 11 rounds fight consisting of 5 rounds classical boxing and 6 rounds blitz chess. This competition can be won by either a technical k.o. or a checkmate resp. the expiration of chess time.

Lousy cold but sometimes really beautiful

Januar 9th, 2009

After the last winter was really moderate concerning the temperatures this one is really, really cold. The evening news even presented a special broadcast about the winter in Germany which was a pretty bizarre action in my opinion. Anyway, snow is a very rare phenomena in the city i am living in at the moment and now we even have it since a few days and there is no prospect of an end! Even the lake with funny name Aa is totally frozen and people go there for ice skating or a walk. Beside the lousy cold its really beautiful to look at the icy countryside, today I took my camera with me and took some shots- Check out the pictures section!

Vestax VCM-600

Januar 6th, 2009

Just a few days back I was chatting with my Faderskater companion Weaselson about midi controllers for Ableton Live. We agreed that the Evolution UC-33e is a real classic, not without reason it seems like all the countless Techno liveacts nowadays use this gear. But in my opinion the haptic of the knobs and faders is not really cool. I said that there should be a controller with a similar architecture but with the feeling of an Allen & Heath mixer or something like that. In that moment I thought this might be a gap in the market… but of course there are no gaps in nowadays music market. Famous mixer manufacturer Vestax is into midi controllers since quite some time and their products have the distinction of being sophisticated designed, highly valuable and also stylish. So these dudes already threw the perfect controller on the market: The VCM-600. Beside the fact that I dont have the time to produce music at the moment this is definitely my dream midi controller for Ableton live! Quality has its price, the VCM-600 is around 700 Euros at the moment…
