Not much to say about Chris Wedekind: He still is one of my very favorite DJs and gave me heaps of inspiration and great thrills on various dance floors of this globe. His mixtape from February 2004 became kind of soundtrack for my personal summer of love back then. Yes, you are right: This is a true fan speaking! Though D-Nox got very minimal since quite some time (which is actually boring) he always delivers an unique selection of tracks and creates absolutely amazing soundscapes. Here we go for his March mix:

The surf school in Byron Bay, Australia, with which I had my very first stand up on a surfboard had a sticker on their door: Surfing will change your life! When I saw that sticker the second time I knew that it was true and nowadays I know that it does even more dramatic then one would expect. Especially now when it is getting summer over here in Germany I am really longing for some surf- what a shame that the next ridable break is hundreds of miles away! Anyway, here is a little clip from the very recommendable movie Step Into Liquid that features the amazing feeling of surfing.
Some time ago I visited a modern art exhibition in Hamburg called Man Son 1969. We did not have any guide or something and so did not really get the context why the motto of this exhibition referred to the cannibalistic serial killer Charles Manson. In fact it was a conglomeration of quite some bizarre exhibits of very different styles that left a disturbing and confused feeling… like it should be at a modern art exhibition! Anyway, there were also some pictures that showed that unbelievable sick and cruel Manson dude, one of those you can see on the left side. Read the rest of this entry »
Perfectly suitable for the upcoming spring weather this tune from amazing Mr. Scruff is one of my favorites at the moment and on heavy rotation on my MP3 player when sneaking through the sunny streets. The English producer has not only phantastic skills concerning beats and basses but also creates funny little cartoon characters which are featured in this video. There also is a new Essential DJ mix available from Radio 1 which you can download here.
Victor Vasarely might not be a really new issue for you. His geometrical works are typical for the OP art which uses subtle methods to generate optical illusions. Though the whole retro thing has worn out this style pretty much its still very aesthetic and impressing. Especially if you consider that Vasarely did not use any computers or stuff but created this paintings just using his imagination and hands.
Last weekend I spend in Zürich, Switzerland, and though the weather was pretty much crap there I had a very good time and discovered some pretty funny things. For example this Free Beer which is was made under a Creative Commons license: The recipe, the design and the brand itself is open source. You can brew it, sell it and get rich with it and if you are really ambitious you also can improve the recipe. You just have to stick to some simple rules which are published on the site of the inventors.
