Roberdo Raval – Hedonistic Freelancer

I.D. – Aether

September 30th, 2010

In 2999 the Earth is slowly beginning to recover from the damage wreaked in the early part of the millennium. Large swathes of cities – most streets, markets and other areas that would once have been in the open air, are now covered to avoid harmful rays from the sun, since there is little in the way of an ozone layer, and town planners are forced to build down, rather than up, with surface level glass ‘windows’ miles across allowing plenty of light into the new underground settlements. It’s a temporary measure, imposed by the global government, which has banned any ‘outside’ building until the environment has finished recovering. The mission to find outside intelligent life has been successful, and thus, perhaps inevitably, there is a small colony of really hot female aliens living on Earth, while manned missions regularly bring back cultural and scientific artifacts from other galaxies to study.

Food and resource wars have largely died out, as gigantic, ugly but useful desalination plants, unmanned farms and solar panels now take care of people’s basic needs, leading to a healthy but restless populace, who as a result have plenty of time to indulge in culture and the arts, for instance strapping on a protective suit, taking a camera and wondering around the ruins of the 20th, 21st and 22nd centuries – centuries that are now lauded for their unusual, quaint approach to architecture, culture and society.

Roberdo – Psychedelic Techno 2010

September 24th, 2010

Finally recorded another DJ mix. No experimental stuff this time but hard, wasted, in-yer-face Techno music. In fact a bunch of very twisted, drugged and psychedelic tunes, seems like my musical roots shining through here one more time… High volume and few lights recommended!

Mark Henson

September 21st, 2010

This paiting was my favourite one among all those fantastic works in Boom Festival’s art gallery. It is not only the motive and its statement but also the technique, the clear, bright colours and the realistic but still organic, smooth and very elegant shapes that impress me deeply. After I forgot the name of the artist (of course…) I finally found him again: Mark Henson. His work represents an own style of visionary art, refreshingly clear and timeless aesthetic. Find some more of his works below but also check out his vast portfolio!

Shore leave: Andalusia

September 11th, 2010

My last shore leave lead me to the beautiful South of the Spanish mainland in late August / early September. Andalusia is a truely wonderful place with spectacular landscapes streching out beyond clear blue skies and lots of cosy, laid-back villages as well as some charming cities with beautiful faces to discover… But enough words, let the pictures speak for themselves!

2562 vs. A Made Up Sound – LWC Podcast

September 10th, 2010

Just discovered this superb Bass Music mix by 2562 vs. A Made Up Sound, two projects by the dutch Dave Huismans. Great variety and massive party drive, listen at high volume and stay true to the name of this music genre! On Little White Earbuds, where I picked this set, a short interview with this outstanding producer as well as the tracklist (which is pretty much white…) can be found.

September 9th, 2010

Packed with new and unreleased tunes from the two German dudes, this heavily Dub and Reggae flavored live set includes quite some highlights- one of my favorite ones can be heard around 13:00… There is also a little interview included at the end.

El perro que baila Merengue

September 4th, 2010

Looking at the two dogs I am taking care of this evening, they appear not too much clever to me… But obviously they are not representative for their species, at least this video really swept me off my feet: The dog who is dancing Merengue!

Sam@chaishop & Roberdo – Boom 2010 set

September 2nd, 2010

Playing at Boom 2010 together with my good friend Sam during the early first night of the festival was a once-in-a-lifetime experience I will never forget: The monumentally huge Dance Temple, its earthquake-simulating but still crystal clear sound system, the breathtaking lighting and projection concept… and all above the huge crowd in front of the stage and its incredible energy- Thanks a lot to everybody who was part of this truely magic event! Here we go with the live record of our oldschool Psy & Progressive Trance set – enjoy!
