Accoustical liberation of books in the public domain, so the motto of this really great service. The idea: Copyrights for books expire at some point of time and the text enters the so called “public domain”. This legal status grants unristricted usage rights to simply everybody. So volunteers record their reading of one these books… and here we go with a huge collection of free audio books in many different languages!

There is no other land…

Oktober 27th, 2010

“You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land, there is no other life but this.”

Henry David Thoreau

People In The Audience – Donut Jazz Pt. One

Oktober 24th, 2010

Mashing up heavyweight beats and basses with a bunch of extra easy Jazz sounds, this dude presents some seriously laid-back and dope stuff on his debut release. Being a notorious MPC 2000 nerd, his sound distiguishes itself by the unmistakable, rustic charme of the old school sampling unit. The arrangements of the tracks often remind free jam sessions. Recorded and mastered in really proper quality and finally released for free via Bandcamp in any format you could possibly desire makes Donut Jazz Pt. One defintely a great pick!

The current issue of mushroom magazine includes my personal review on Boom as well as an interview I had with Amanda Sage, an American artist who presented her work in the festival’s gallery and also gave a lecture on psychedelic and visionary art during the event.

Enter The Void

Just discovered that Gaspar Noé, maker of i.a. Irreversible, produced a new movie called Enter the Void. Not only the name of the director but also the pictures in this little video speak for themselves.

Livid Instruments controllers

Oktober 12th, 2010

Its been ages since I mixed down my last own production. But I keep interested in studio technology because again and again there is simply fascinating gear in this field. The controllers from Livid Instruments fascinate me especially because of their really stylish design made of polished aluminium and real wood. I cant help myself, they strongly remind me the gear from monome, who produced these kind of grid-matrix-trigger-pads long before the APC-Revolution. However, beautiful technology that will surely work out pretty well with the relevant software.

Exit through the gift shop

The world’s first street art disaster movie is the self-descriptive subtitle of scene icon Banksy’s first movie. The documentary takes an interesting turn when film-maker Thierry Guetta is advised to become an street artist himself by the British Banksy, whose works can be found in quite every modern art collection by now. All together an entertaining, funny and inspiring flick with lots of beautiful pictures to watch!
