A few weeks ago I wrote: Good visual animations are not necessarily a 1:1 representation of what you see in an altered state of mind. Rather, watching them provokes a feeling similiar to that of a synesthetic or even visonary experience. This one does so really well. And so does this one by visual artist LucidJuice. Based on the picture ‘Wanderer Awake’ created by psychedelic artist Android Jones, it provokes complex emotions beyond the scope of words…
Objekt – Electronic Explorations
März 29th, 2012
Considering the recent popularity of Objekt somehow gives me hope that there still is progress and exciting development taking place in the dance floor-orientated electronic music scene, and, even more important, that there are people out there who appreciate experimental sounds and new rhythm structures. The latest episode of Electronic Explorations presents another great DJ mix by Objekt – and a really funny tracklist for all the sound nerds out there…

Astroboter – Game Of Tones Mix
März 26th, 2012
Not his promised second part of the fantastic Delights For Psychic Minds mix, but yet another great set by Astroboter. Hard to put a label on it, the artist describes the mixture as follows: “This mix includes music from artists & genres that inspired my debut album. At the beginning I wanted to include as much songs that I love. If you can imagine this was an impossible task, so I ended up with this selection. It starts off with some of my favourite beat producers, then leds to more guitar-driven styles and ends with magic tones from Stoner- & Krautrock wizards.” The debut album of Astroboter will be out on Switchstance Recordings on 20th April 2012 – definitely a release to watch out for!

Their album drops on Stones Throw on March 27. This is the ‘Hip-Hop Quake Mix’ by Katalyst, a 40-minute set featuring some of the work that has inspired the project.” Rating: Seriously dope.

Ben Newman Art
März 18th, 2012
He describes his work as naughty art, filthy fairytales and other perverted nonsense. Sounds pretty much like my thing. And what cartoonist, painter and illustrator Ben Newman does, looks indeed absolutely awesome. If you like it, you should definitely have a look at his blog – he’s an incredible productive and versatile fellow!

Elite Force – Rvmpd2
März 13th, 2012
Recently Elite Force released the second part of his Revamped album. That is to say he is giving away for free every week one track at the moment, altogether 20. “Primal Scream, Miles Dyson, Basement Jaxx, Missy Elliot, Skrillex, Chemical Brothers, Thomas Bangalter, and Adele, respectfully torn to pieces, and cleverly stitched back together to form a unique dancefloor patchwork.” Top-notch party music between Breaks, Beats, Wobbles, Bass, House, and Electro.

The series Vom Bleiben by German photographer André-Alexander Giesemann could also be entitled The Day After: He captured the rather sober and dull atmosphere of ‘after party’ scenarios in some popular clubs.

The new mushroom magazine is finished! The publication cycle changed, it now comes on each odd month. Also, the pages underwent a nice re-design. Some topics: Netlabels, lots of summer festivals and an extensive drugstore section.
