Playing at Boom 2010 together with my good friend Sam during the early first night of the festival was a once-in-a-lifetime experience I will never forget: The monumentally huge Dance Temple, its earthquake-simulating but still crystal clear sound system, the breathtaking lighting and projection concept… and all above the huge crowd in front of the stage and its incredible energy- Thanks a lot to everybody who was part of this truely magic event! The name Sinden sticks in my head since I heard that incredible track Stinging Nettle by The Count & Sinden on Herve’s Ghetto Bass compilation more than a year ago. Since then quite some tunes from this artist piled up on my hard disc and so it was a very pleasant surprise to discover his name over there at XLR8R podcast. What puts my euphoria about this DJ mix in a nutshell probably most is the fact that I cant really label its style… Lets take that wonderfully featureless description Bass Music therefore – or, even better: Great, up-to-date Electronic Dance Music.

I really like the fact that the two Alic dudes stood true to their own style and consequently kept on pursuing their very own vision of Electronic Dance Music. There are too many boys and girls out there who just take part in the big Techno-Monopoly game, obeying its self-oscillating rules and diligently creating reproductions of what is hip in the ludicrously hyped clubs of Berlin. In refreshing contrast, this duo specialized on the rare genre of Psychedelic Techno, creating dramatic, mysterious, yes cinematic soundscapes based on hard, twisted and frequently also experiemental beat structures. But take a listen yourself, here we go with their well-made recent live set promo!
Wow, only few days after I discovered the stunnig new Guts mixtape, here we go with another superb mixture of laid-back good-mood sounds… Kabanjak, also known as Deela and one half of the Ancient Astronauts, is undoubtedly one of the most productive and innovative German producers in the field of dubby, funky and easy music, disrespecting any style borders. So his recent Dub To Go EP is defintely worth a listen, too, and his debut solo album coming up on Switchstance Recordings might propably turn out to be… dope shit!
Big, not to say huge news from the Extra Easy Music front: French grandmaster Guts is back with another episode of his stunnig mixtapes! The last one is filed under my very, very carfully selected all time favs and this one is an absolutely worthy successor. A remarkable smooth mixture of Hip Hop, Reggae, Funk and funny, curious sounds, varied but stringent and all above easy as it can be. Pura Mixtura No. 4 is brought to you by AnalogLife.fr in 320 kbit MP3 quality and if you enjoy it only half as much as I do, you should consider donating some pennies for this dude to keep this awsome mixtape series running. If you want, you can even purchase a CD or a real oldschool tape and support the artist in this way. Last but not least: Of course also the original tracklist presentation video is not missing!

Finally some new stuff from (Adam) Freeland, in fact the first one after his stunning, timeless masterpiece album Cope. Promising sounds, a digital EP with various remixes of this track will be out in July.
Very housey and trendy but still so deep, dirty and really, really freaked out: Malente knows how to perform the balancing act between kitsch and modern electronic arts and creates some very entertaining and explosive dancefloor madness in this way.

Dubstep coripheo Scuba created another stunning mix, and this time it is not dubsteppy, even not really technoid at all! In fact the man behind Hotflush Recordings compiled his personal musical influences and the result became an enormous stretch of different styles and eras, reaching from the Pet Shop Boys and Prince to Roots Manuva to Aphex Twin and Plastikman. Wow, what a colourful bunch of good-mood music!

Finally some more blog rocking beats, this time from mister Mollono.Bass. The head of Acker Records presents an entertaining mixture of Tech and House and in my opinion he becomes very, very deep, yes really kind of trancy by doing so.

Just discovered this DJ mix of mine, still recorded with my old standalone CD recorder in 2003. So this one comes from the times when I was walking around in all those freaky flouro clothes with my beard and hairs five times the length of today… The CD is labeled “House Mix 2003″. Of course it is quiet a hippyish and psychedelic interpretation of House music. I clearly remember all tracks in this mix appeared on Progressive / UK Trance labels like Sunset, Earregular, Transient, Fire or Bedrock… just pronouncing these names wakes lovely memories! Also, it is again and again fascinating for me to look back at my own musical development.
