Mind bending slides and Dance Data: HARM

There are pretty much persons within the techno scene who claim their self to be sooo much talented in sooo many different ways. Well, in my opinion pretty few are really and those who are do not tell it to everybody…
It was one evening in spring when I was playing close to Hannover. During my set a guy came to the dj desk several times, alternating to applaud my sound or to ask me to switch out the small light on the desk. Well, at first I did not really check what he had in mind with that, actually there are quite a few persons on parties who have funny substances and with that funny thoughts in mind… But after my set I checked the sense of this petition: There were really crazy projections just onto the dj desk, just like this:
I was thinking something like “Fuck… THIS is trippy!” Its really incredible how much psychedelic and mind bending “simple” slide projections can be… The whole club was drenched in this fluid web structure which covered the dancing crowd as well as all the environment. I love this style of decoration because it is minimal on the one hand but makes a massive effect on the other. Its clear structure has a straight, clubby flair but would also amaze every hippie passing through. The motives are clear and tidied up but absolutely surreal, too… Psychedelic for adults, I would call that.
This friendly dude turned out to be HARM from Lüneburg, a memeber of party collective Sonic Fiction and he was booked to be the light artist that evening. He had several slide projectors installed, also outside the club where the effect might be even better combined with nature forms like trees and leaves. With good reason he is pretty successful at the moment, being booked to make light installations at many festivals also on famous Fusion festival this year. He will definitley fit perfectly in the high class adult entertainment there… ;)
I think this dude can rightly be called multi- talented. For HARM is not only active as an light artist- He is also doing a pretty nice and successful liveact using a lot of hardware and deejays very good, too. As a bonus I added a liveset by HARM who is also one half of 13th Monkey. The first 45 minutes are pure liveset, after that it is a liveset – dj set hybrid together with a mate. Pretty rough and strong stuff, nothing for weak nerves ;)
