Your true traveller

Februar 6th, 2012

Your true traveller finds boredom rather agreeable than painful. It is the symbol of his liberty-his excessive freedom. He accepts his boredom, when it comes, not merely philosophically, but almost with pleasure.

La Gomera shots

Januar 2nd, 2011

My trip to La Gomera was amazing though I did not see any good waves for surfing over there. The rugged island is lush and green as it can be with a very tropical feeling along the beaches and in the deep valleys. Going up the steep mountains you will find a mystic forest with clouds of fog randomly falling down – just like from a smoke machine in a night club! It’s a very quiet and laid-back place, not too much going on, so definitely a recommendation for those looking for some nature experiences. Only Valle Gran Rey, the sweet little tourist village we stayed at, was definitely a little too German for my taste… Find some shots from this trip below, the urban sceneries were captured in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where we had a short stop-over. As frequent readers of this blog might recognize, the space ship architecture is by Santiago Calatrava.

Shore leave: Andalusia

September 11th, 2010

My last shore leave lead me to the beautiful South of the Spanish mainland in late August / early September. Andalusia is a truely wonderful place with spectacular landscapes streching out beyond clear blue skies and lots of cosy, laid-back villages as well as some charming cities with beautiful faces to discover… But enough words, let the pictures speak for themselves!

Los Lobos – The beauty of the desert

April 19th, 2010

Though not surfable, it still was a very enjoyable day yesterday: Los Lobos, a small vulcano island situated just in opposite of the village, has quite some vegetation and therefore represented a certain beauty of the desert

Stoked

Dezember 22nd, 2009

[...] Die alltägliche Suche beginnt. Im Hafen des kleinen Ortes Read the rest of this entry »

Boom 2008 review

Oktober 22nd, 2008

(Don’t know why but somehow I totally forgot about this one… Almost finished it rested on my hard drive for two months now. Hope you still enjoy this extensive review on Boom 2008!)

An unexpected mass of visitors and a fatal bar code system error led to some worse trouble right at the beginning of Boom. But no doubt: Those who finally managed to enter the festival ground witnessed pure magic going on on the shores of the reservoir in Idanha-a-Nova.

Actually it was not really horrible but still not very comfortable to wait for 10 hours in the traffic jam in front of the entry gates at Boom festival 2006. But I was pretty happy when a friend of mine called me a few weeks before the festival and asked for helping him with the setup and care of the light projections he should bring to the Ambient Forest. The reason: Working with the decoration team would bring me inside the festival before the gates officially opened on Monday. In this way I avoided the only but therefore really worse critic point at the most complete international Trance gathering: The entry problem. Read the rest of this entry »

The shark experience

Januar 6th, 2008

I was a little shocked when suddenly a large 3- meter ray crossed above my head only 40 centimeters away! Then the legendary surfer killer, a giant gray shark, payed a visit followed by his smaller but still pretty dangerous looking fellows… Fortunately I did not have this experience while surfing ;) I shot this video at Sydney´s Aquarium, where you can walk through underwater glass tunnels and make really close contact with all these impressing ocean citizens.
